Lm. Volkova et al., Investigation of the relationship between T-c and the Coulomb interaction of copper cations from the neighboring CuO2 layers, J STRUCT CH, 40(4), 1999, pp. 563-571
Sixty known high-temperature cuprates from different systems are analyzed.
It is shown that the temperature of the transition to the superconducting s
tate (T-c)correlates with the Coulomb interaction V-ij between the Cu catio
ns front the neighboring CuO2 layers. The dependence T-c(V-ij) is plotted a
s two families of parabolic carves resembling an orthogonal system of confo
cal parabolas. If follows front this relationship that the optimal doping o
f CuO2 layers depends on the Cu-Cu distances between the neighboring CuO2 l
ayers, Methods of varying the charges on and the distances between the copp
er atoms are demonstrated. The potential applications of this relationship
for developing the compositions of new high-temperature materials and choos
ing methods to raise T-c of known high-temperature cuprates are discussed.
