Molar and mean atomic volumes have been calculated and analyzed for binary
tellurite glasses doped with transition metal oxides (TMO) like MoO3 and V2
O5 Analysis of the compositional dependence of elastic properties of the bi
nary tellurite glasses in terms of the bulk modules-volume and bond compres
sion model relationships have been achieved. The number of bonds per unit v
olume, the value of the average stretching force constant present in the bi
nary glasses have been calculated in order to discuss the inter-atomic bond
ing of network modifiers and network former and their correlation with the
elastic property of the present noncrystalline solid. Both Debye and Einste
in temperatures with the values of the mean atomic volume and number of vib
rating atoms per unit volume present in the binary glasses have been calcul
ated and discussed. (C) 2000 Published by Elsevier Science S.A. All rights
