Abstract
A method is proposed to quantify the amount of high alumina cement (HA C) in concrete using high resolution gamma ray spectrometry. The metho d was tested using six samples of concrete composed of HAC and aggrega tes and three samples of concrete made up of aggregates and a mixture of HAC and Portland cement. The specific activities in Bq per kg of tw o isotopes of the decay series of U-238 (Pb214 and Bi214) and one of t he decay series of Th-232(Ac228) were used for the quantification.
