The elastic energy of a sequence of splitting particles is computed in the
limit of infinite splitting. The calculation combines the mathematical tool
of H-measures with a calculation of Khachaturyan et al for the elastic ene
rgy of cuboidal particles, doublers and octets. In the infinite splitting l
imit, the elastic energy of particles that split in one spatial dimension (
a sequence of plates) decreases monotonically with particle separation, whi
le the elastic energy of particles that split in all three dimensions (a se
quence of cubes) exhibits a minimum at a particular interparticle separatio
n.
