Original investigations and descriptions of the radiographic findings and t
echniques of evaluation of the esophagus and esophagogastric junction were
made at The Mount Sinai Hospital by Drs. Bernard S. Wolf and colleagues in
the third quarter of the 20th century. These included basic descriptions of
peptic ulceration of the esophagus, the gastric lined esophagus, definitio
ns of hiatus hernia, terminology of the esophagogastric junction, use of th
e barium pill and correlations of cineradiology with manometry.
