Dsyphagia and is common symptom in neurological diseases. Neuroanatomy and
neurophysiology of swallowing are complex. Their comprehension is the basis
for the classification of neurogenic dysphagia. in terms of topology we di
fferentiate myogenic, neuromuscular, neurogenic and central disorders. In t
his work the underlying neurological disease is assigned to these levels. T
his distinct system is helpful for diagnostical thinking concerning dysphag
ia as a symptom in neurological practise.
