Descriptions and illustrations are provided for seven species of fungi asso
ciated with tar-spot-like symptoms on living Nothofagus leaves ha New Zeala
nd. The fungi treated are Trabutia nothofagi Syd. and its anamorph Baeumler
ia nothofagi (Henn.) Petr. & Syd., another Trabutia sp. (which is not forma
lly described as the only known collection in immature), two unidentified c
oelomycete fungi, and two species described as new, Monostichella nothofagi
and Piggotia nothofagi. All of the species are known from very few collect
ions, and none from outside New Zealand.
