This paper analyses both the steady-state and dynamic behaviour of an
azeotropic train of columns from an existing industrial plant so as to
assess the requirements and the operative policy necessary to allow h
eat integration, simultaneously contemplating a significant increase i
n the plant's productive capacity. The main features of the problem ar
e the presence of strong nonlinearities and a high degree of sensitivi
ty. An appropriate control policy was designed on the basis of the dyn
amic results.
