Abstract
The hexane extract of the bark of Garcinia vilersiana from Vietnam containe d four triterpenoids (olean-12-ene-3 beta,11 alpha-diol, lupeol, beta-amyri n and oleanolic acid), and six xanthones (globuxanthone, subelliptenone H, subelliptenone B, 12b-hydroxy-des-D-garcigerrin A, 1-O-methylglobuxanthone and symphoxanthone). The structure of 1-O-methylglobuxanthone, the only nov el compound, was determined using 1D and 2D NMR techniques and by correlati on with globuxanthone. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd.
