Abstract
Phenol derivatives containing 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine group were succ essfully benzoylated with both benzoyl chloride in the presence of aluminiu m chloride and benzotrichloride in aqueous sodium hydroxide solution. The 2 -hydroxybenzophenone UV-absorbers bearing light stabilizing fragment - 2,2, 6,6-tetramethylpiperidine nucleus - were synthesized in this way. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
