N. Costantini et al., Characterization of electrochemically synthesized alkylpyrrole intrinsically conducting polymers, POLYM ADV T, 11(1), 2000, pp. 27-39
This work concerns some electrochemical polymerizations of pyrrole derivati
ves in order to obtain intrinsically connecting polymers: the study was mai
nly concerned with the electrochemical polymerization of 3-alkyl substitute
d pyrroles with different chain lengths (3-hexylpyrrole, 3-decylpyrrole, 3-
hexadecylpyrrole). Different experimental conditions were adopted with 3-al
kylpyrroles: different solvents (propylene carbonate, acetonitrile), differ
ent counterions (ClO4-, BF4-, NO3,- PF6-, TsO-) and different current densi
ties (0.05, 0.1, 0.2, 0.4 mA/cm(2)). The synthesized conducting polymers we
re characterized through Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, C-13 cros
s-polarization magic angle spin-spectroscopy solid-state nuclear magnetic r
esonance and electrical conductivity measurements to study the relations co
nnecting the experimental conditions of synthesis with the structure and el
ectrical properties of the polymers. Thermogravimetric analysis, differenti
al scanning calorimetry and isothermal heatings were performed in order to
evaluate the polymer's thermal stability. Copyright (C) 2000 John Wiley & S
