Abstract
Effects of gamma irradiation on hygienic quality and extraction yields in t wenty-one kinds of Korean medicinal herbs were investigated. Gamma irradiat ion at 5-10 kGy inactivated contaminating microorganisms. The total extract ion yield in fifteen kinds of the investigated medicinal herbs increased by 5-25% by a dose of 10 kGy.
