The purpose of this article is to derive superposition formulas for ps
eudo-orthogonal matrix Riccati equations of even dimensions N greater
than or equal to 4. The superposition formulas will be written in clos
ed form in terms of five particular solutions for N greater than or eq
ual to 8 and six for N less than or equal to 6. The importance of pseu
do-orthogonal matrix Riccati equations for the orthogonal principal si
gma-model is discussed. Examples will be studied to show how the super
position formulas work and how they can be used in numerical calculati
ons.
