Ks. Makarova et al., Short repeats and IS elements in the extremely radiation-resistant bacterium Deinococcus radiodurans and comparison to other bacterial species, RES MICROB, 150(9-10), 1999, pp. 711-724
Computer analysis of the complete genome of Deinococcus radiodurans R1 has
shown that the number of insertion sequences (ISs) and small noncoding repe
ats (SNRs) it contains is very high, and comparable with those of Escherich
ia coli. IS elements and several families of SNRs are described, together w
ith their possible function in the D. radiodurans genome. (C) 1999 Editions
