Abstract
Computer analysis of the complete genome of Deinococcus radiodurans R1 has shown that the number of insertion sequences (ISs) and small noncoding repe ats (SNRs) it contains is very high, and comparable with those of Escherich ia coli. IS elements and several families of SNRs are described, together w ith their possible function in the D. radiodurans genome. (C) 1999 Editions scientifiques et medicales Elsevier SAS.
