Depending on the relative positions of the acetyl groups in the aromatic ri ngs, the Pseudomonas sp. lipase-catalyzed hydrolysis of diacetoxynaphthalen es in tert-butylmethyl ether proceeds regioselectively to afford the corres ponding monoacetates.
