Abstract
In order to clarify the structures of thin Cr films by their real space ima ges, Cr films of various thicknesses, prepared using vacuum deposition, hav e been observed using a high resolution electron microscope. The amorphous chromium films were composed of microcrystallites of the order of 3 nm. The crystallite structure was delta-Cr. The well-known bcc chromium particles were observed in thick and large crystal particles. The stability of small particles is discussed. (C) 2000 Published by Elsevier Science S.A.
