Three new dammarane-type triterpenes, named arcapitin A: B and C, were isol
ated from the roots of Argyreia capitata (Convolvulaceae). They turned out
to be 11 alpha-aceloxydammar-24-ene-20(S)-ol-3-one, dammar-24-ene-11 alpha,
20(S)-diol-3-one and 11 alpha-acetoxydammar-24-ene-3 beta,20(S)-diol. While
the same compounds were also detected in the aerial vegetative parts of th
is species, their occurrence in a number of other convolvulaceous species c
ould not be confirmed.
