Abstract
Macrobrachium rosenbergii (de Man 1879) were reared at different stocking d ensities and under different nutritional regimes in order to determine a va lid index of condition. Based on observations of these larvae. a condition index was developed, using the Apgar three-point numerical scale to assess the health of human babies. This index allows a quantifiable assessment of larvae at any stage in their development and should be of value for both co mmercial and research purposes.
