Abstract
It is shown that the use of the initial characteristics of samples makes it possible to decrease substantially the variance and the bias in the determ ination of the critical neutron fluence for GR-280 RBMK graphite. It is rec ommended that a graphite model that includes neutron fluence and the initia l value of the elastic modulus be used as an approximation for dimensional changes of graphite samples.
