Abstract
The spread spectrum (SS) system has the unique feature that communication a nd ranging can be realized with an identical system with no degradation of frequency use efficiency. If a spread spectrum system is used for both comm unication between the vehicle and the road (vehicle-road communication) and ranging at the same frequency, by taking advantage of the above feature of the SS, the communication signals and the ranging signals interfere with e ach other so that the performance of communication and ranging is degraded. A road-vehicle communication and ranging system is proposed in which the p erformance of the communication and ranging by the spread spectrum system c an be improved by using a circuit to eliminate the interference. By compute r simulation, the ranging accuracy and the communication bit error rate are evaluated. (C) 2000 Scripta Technica.
