Abstract
An analytical model for the prediction of buffer hit ratios is presented. P rediction is carried out by means of the on-line detection of block referen ce patterns of applications and exploitation of functions that approximate the hit ratios for such detected patterns. Experimental results show that t he proposed method accurately models the hit ratios of actual executions.
