Galanthamine is a third-generation cholinesterase inhibitor used against Al
zheimer's disease. New analytical methods for the determination of galantha
mine in pharmaceutical preparatives and biological fluids, such as urine an
d serum, were developed. An experimental design and artificial neural netwo
rk approach were used for method optimization. Thirty-five ppb of galantham
ine were determined in serum samples (with addition of 10 mM magnesium chlo
ride and using solid-phase preconcentration).
