The reactions of HAl(O-G-O)(2) with alkaline earth metals (Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba)
and those of Al(OPr)(3) with H2M(O-G-O)(2) (M = Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Sn(II); G =
-CMe2. CH2. CHMe-) in 2 : 1 molar ratio yield derivatives of the types M{Al
(O-G-O)(2)}(2) and {Al(OPr')(2)}(2)(.){M(O-.-G-O)(2)}, respectively. An alt
ernative route to prepare the above homo- and hetero-leptic derivatives is
to react M{Al(OPr')(4)}(2) with hexylene glycol in 1:4 and 1:2 molar ratios
, respectively, in benzene. All these derivatives have been characterized b
y elemental analyses, spectroscopic [IR and NMR (H-1, C-13, Al-27 and Sn-11
9)] studies, and molecular weight measurements.
