The electrochemical characteristics of cefotaxime in the presence of sodium
lauryl sulphate and the sensitization of the surfactant have been studied
by normal pulse polarography, cyclic voltammetry and chromocoulometry. The
data show that the surfactant can promote the adsorption of the drug on the
mercury electrode and improve the reversibility of electrode reaction of c
efotaxime. The recommended single-sweep polarographic procedure has been us
ed for the determination of cefotaxime in urine and serum samples.
