Abstract
Liquid-liquid extraction of manganese(II) has been carried out in the prese nce of ammonium sulphate with Cyanex 301 in toluene. Mn(II) is quantitative ly extracted in the pH range 7.0-9.5 in presence of 1.0 M ammonium sulphate with 5x10(-3) M Cyanex 301 in toluene. Mn(II) from the organic phase is st ripped with 1.0 M H2SO4. Various parameters like reagent concentration, tim e, effect of diluents and tolerence limit of diverse ions have also been st udied. Mn(II) has been successfully separated from commonly associated meta ls like Cu(II), Ni(II) and Fe(III) The method has been employed for determi nation of Mn(II) in real samples.
