In this paper we briefly summarize the stripe-QCP scenario and presente som
e of its consequences in the normal state. Within this scenario, the occurr
ence of a charge-ordering instability, only hindered by the setting in of a
SC phase provides the underlying mechanism ruling the physics of the SC cu
prates. In particular, in this paper we examine the formation of the stripe
textures observed in these materials at 1/8 filling and report on the main
features found in ARPES experiments as a consequence of the scattering bet
ween the quasiparticles and the critical charge fluctuations.
