M. Audran et al., A marked increase in bone mineral density in a patient with glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis, J CLIN DENS, 2(4), 1999, pp. 453-455
During the densitometric follow-up of a 73-yr-old male suffering from bullo
us pemphigoid and glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis, a marked increase in
bone mineral density (BMD) led to the diagnosis of an asymptomatic prostat
ic cancer with secondary diffuse bone lesions. This eventuality must be con
sidered in patients with a rapid and unexplained gain in BMD.
