The effect of oxygen isotope substitution on superconducting transitio
n temperature T(c) has been measured in La1.85Sr0.15Cu1-yMeyO4(Me=Ni,
Zn Co, Fe). In all compounds the T(c) decreases and the isotope expone
nt alpha(o) = -d(lnT(c))/d(lnM) increases with increasing Me content.
The results for LSCO:Ni and LSCO:Zn are in good agreement with the Abr
ikosov-Gor'kov (AG) theory of magnetic pair-breaking. The dependecies
of alpha(o)(x) and T(c) (x) for LSCO:Fe and LSCO:Co are much stronger
than those predicted by the theory.
