Abstract
This paper presents a stable interface concept for nano-meter spacing inter face that uses partial contact air bearing slider. The spectral signatures of the system were identified and the linear and nonlinear frequency respon se features were characterized. Besides providing a fundamental understandi ng of the unstable origins, possible design solutions for stable interface were presented, which included damping control, stiffness control and syste m force control.
