Abstract
In this paper, the effect of the magnetic base plate on a single-phase sand wich-type brushless DC motor is investigated. The simulation indicates that the cogging torque increases and torque constant k(1) and coefficient of b ack emf k(e) decrease in comparison with a nonmagnetic base plate.
