Abstract
This paper aims to develop a high power density and high efficiency of moto r for electric vehicles. The motor, which is used to replace the traditiona l engine-driven, is a 5-phase 22-pole square-wave brushless permanent magne t (PR I) DC motor. The design and optimization of the motor is done with th e aid of electromagnetic field analysis based on the finite element method. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
