Abstract
Dielectronic recombination (DR) rate coefficients are calculated for hydrog en-like Tf, Cr, and Ni at plasma temperatures 0.1-10 keV. The DR processes considered here are of the type 1s + epsilon l --> (2ln(1) l(1)) --> lsn(2) l(2) + gamma. Explicit intermediate coupling calculations with configuratio n interactions have been performed for all intermediate resonance states wi th n = 2-8. The 1/n(3) scaling was employed to estimate the DR rate coeffic ients for n > 8. The total DR rate coefficients have been obtained by summi ng over all partial DR rates. We find that the 1/n(3) scaling law underesti mates the DR rates Summed over all states of each n. The present calculatio n yields significantly larger total DR rates for hydrogen-like ions compare d to previous calculations reported in the literature. (C) 1999 Elsevier Sc ience Ltd.
