In this paper, the use of localized tendons to prestress statically indeter
minate structures is examined. To determine the prestressing moments produc
ed by localized tendons, the fixed-end moments should first be computed. Eq
uations and charts are presented to show the effects on these moments of va
rying the geometric parameters that define the localized tendon profile. Th
ese equations and charts are helpful for selecting the values of the parame
ters before using computer programs to obtain the resultant prestressing mo
ment at any section of the structure.
