Abstract
The compound Cd[C3N2H11](2)[V8O20] was synthesized from the hydrothermal re actions of V2O5, CdSO4, 1,2-diaminopropane (enMe) and water in the molar ra tio 1:1:2.2:223. Its structure has been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. This compound has an open three-dimensional framework structur e consisting of [V8O20](4-) layers, composed of equal numbers of VO4 tetrah edra and VO5 pyramids connected by both corner and edge sharing. The Cd[enM eH](2)(4+) complex occupies the interlayer space and connects with the vana dium oxide layers through four Cd-O bonds. This arrangement gives one-dimen sional channels with 10-membered rings along the c axis.
