We report magnetization measurements on high-quality Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 sin
gle crystals in H // the c-axis. Our reversible magnetization data at
30 K less-than-or-equal-to T < T(c) show strong deviations from the li
near dependence of M on ln(H) in the intermediate-field region. The Gi
nzburg-Landau parameter kappa, obtained by using the Hao-Clem variatio
nal model, was found to vary significantly with the field range for th
e data fitting. This unusual behavior can not be explained by the ther
mal fluctuations of the vortices in layered superconductors.
