Photoionization of methylphenothiazine was studied in different pore size s
ilicoaluminophosphate microporous materials at room temperature. The photoy
ield of methylphenothiazine cation radical was enhanced by an order of magn
itude or more by incorporation of Ni, Co and Cu transition metal ions as el
ectron accepters into framework sites or ion exchange sites of the micropor
ous materials. Nickel ions had stronger effects on the photoyield than the
others. The photoyield also increased with the silicoaluminophosphate pore
size. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
