Abstract
In this letter, a patch antenna on a photonic bandgap substrate is presente d. A reduction in the level of surface-wave mode excitation has been obtain ed. This leads to improved efficiency, gain, and far-field radiation patter n. Furthermore, improvements in the input return loss have been reported. ( C) 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
