Abstract
A major fraction of charged particles produced in heavy-ion collisions in t he ALICE experiment can be identified using the Time of Flight technique. D ue to the very high multiplicity of produced particles, the array has to be highly segmented. The multigap resistive plate chamber is a device that of fers exceptional time resolution and easy segmentation at a reasonable pric e.
