Abstract
It is suggested that the chemiluminescence from the thermal oxidation of po ly propylene arises predominantly from the decomposition of associated hydr operoxides. Measurements of the chemiluminescence response to heating/cooli ng cycles applied to polypropylene oxidation in the induction period and in an advanced stage of the process is a novel approach to the extrapolation of the oxidation course to the lower temperature region.
