The random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) technique was used for genomic
marking of 11 eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) cultivars. Twelve 10-mer prim
ers were used, nine of which revealed polymorphism in the analyzed cultivar
s. As a result, 68 polymorphic fragments of eggplant genome were generated.
An individual RAPD pattern was obtained for each of the analyzed cultivars
. Several cultivar-specific fragments were detected that may be used in cer
tification and the search for genomic markers of individual eggplant cultiv
ars. The evaluation of genetic similarities between the studied cultivars b
y cluster analysis was carried out.
