Abstract
We describe here a case of Staphylococcus epidermidis prosthetic aortic val ve endocarditis 9 y after valve replacement. Surprisingly, the microorganis m was community-acquired, highly virulent and associated with splenic disea se. The patient recovered following emergency valve replacement and prolong ed antibiotic therapy. Splenectomy was not required.
