Abstract
This article discusses the embryology and surgical treatment of diseases of the salivary: glands, which require precise knowledge of anatomy. Knowledg e of the course of the facial nerve enables safe removal of parotid tumors. The submandibular gland is associated intimately with the lingual and hypo glossal nerves.
