Abstract
A drop-size/velocity correlation equation, based on energy balance, was exa mined with experimental data from three fan nozzles (XR8002, XR8001, and 80 0067) spraying water at 207 kPa. Simultaneous measurements of drop size and velocity were obtained using a Phase/Doppler Particle Analyzer (PDPA). Mea surements were made at 4 cm directly below nozzle orifice, along the centra l axis of the nozzle. There was good agreement between the measured and pre dicted velocities. The maximum absolute deviation of the predicted velociti es from the measured data was less than 5% for XR8002 and XR8001, and less than 7.5% for the 800067 nozzle.
