Primary hypertrophic antro-pyloric stenosis in adults is a misleading anato
mic and radioclinical entity. It consists of hypertrophy of the internal mu
scular layer. Distal gastrectomy is the only effective treatment of the sym
ptomatic form and allows a pathologic study of the gastrectomy, thus ruling
out most causes of obstruction, including neoplastic ones. Its congenital
origin has not been established We report the case of a 59 year-old man who
had primary hypertrophic pyloric stenosis.
