Raman spectroscopy has developed into one of the most powerful tools for fu
ndamental investigations and practical application!; in gases, liquids and
solids. In this paper some examples of Raman applications for studying vibr
ational dynamics occurring in picosecond and femtosecond scale in liquids,
glassy and crystalline frozen matrices are given. The results obtained from
linear and nonlinear methods of Raman and IR spectroscopies will be compar
ed.
