Abstract
The results of a floristic study of benthic marine macroalgae from the Maltese Islands (Mediterranean Sea) are presented. The list of taxa a t specific and infraspecific level consists of 150 Rhodophyceae, 45 Fu cophyceae and 28 Chlorophyceae. Of these 223 taxa, 133 are newly repor ted from the Maltese Islands. Data on reproductive phenology of each s pecies are given. Some phytogeographic considerations are also present ed.
