Abstract
Considerable advances have been made in the evaluation and treatment o f diarrhea in HIV-infected individuals, although gaps in knowledge sti ll exist. The availability of newer and more powerful antiretroviral a gents should allow a better definition of the effect of local HIV infe ction on intestinal function. Further attention to the pathophysiology of diarrhea should lead to improvements in diagnosis and treatment.
