Abstract
This article reviews risk assessment for the patient with HIV disease
and the health care professionals caring for these patients. Although
HIV disease provides a unique constellation of challenges to the healt
h care provider, the risk for major surgery in this population is not
unlike that for other immunocompromised or malnourished patients.
