The superconducting energy gap, DELTA, of bulk UBe13 was measured as a
function of temperature. Junctions were made by breaking a narrow reg
ion of a specimen in a vacuum and then repositioning the broken ends t
o form a mechanically adjustable break junction point contact. We conc
luded that the 2DELTA(0)/k(B)T(c) = 4.2 by fitting the data to the BCS
form assuming a T(c) of 0.80 K.
