Abstract
The immune response to infection can vary markedly in different organs oft he same animal. In some organs, the infection can resolve with subsequent i mmunity to re-infection, whereas in other organs, pathogens can persist. He re, Christian Engwerda and Paul Kaye highlight the importance of defining o rgan-specific immune mechanisms for developing strategies that deal effecti vely with infections diseases and their associated pathologies.
